INTRODUCTION:
FINCAR 5MG contains Finasteride which belongs to a group of medicines called type II 5-alpha reductase inhibitors. It is used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) which is a condition in which an overgrowth of prostate tissue pushes against the urethra and the bladder, blocking the flow of urine. It can also cause kidney, urinary tract or bladder problems.
Finasteride helps in shrinking of the prostate gland in adult men when it is swollen. DHT is considered to be the primary androgen playing an important role in the development and enlargement of prostate gland. Finasteride inhibits an isozyme called Type II 5?-reductase present in the prostate, seminal vesicles and epididymides, which is responsible for conversion of testosterone into 5alpha-dihydrotestosterone (DHT).
This medicine is intended for use only in men. It can be taken with or without food. Continue to take this medicine, as long as your doctor tells you to do so, to obtain better results. Talk to your doctor, before taking this medicine if you have any mood alterations and depression. Women planning to become pregnant or already pregnant should avoid exposure to the drug through sexual contact with a man taking finasteride and should not touch crushed or broken tablets of finasteride. This medicine is strictly not recommended for use in children.
USES OF FINCAR 5MG:
Benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate)
HOW FINCAR 5MG WORKS:
DHT is considered to be the primary androgen playing an important role in the development and enlargement of prostate gland. Finasteride specifically inhibits an isozyme called Type II 5?-reductase present in the prostate, seminal vesicles and epididymides, which is responsible for conversion of testosterone into 5alpha-dihydrotestosterone (DHT).
Inhibition of Type II 5?-reductase by finasteride, blocks the peripheral conversion of testosterone to DHT, resulting in a significant decrease in serum and tissue DHT concentrations, increase in prostatic testosterone concentration and decrease in prostatic volume.
