INTRODUCTION:
IMIQUAD 12.5MG contain Imiquimod which belongs to a group of medicine called immune response modifiers. It is used to treat actinic keratosis on the face or scalp, superficial basal cell carcinoma in adults with a normal immune system, warts on or around the genitals or anus in people 12 years and older.
Actinic keratosis is a rough, scaly patch on the skin caused by years of sun exposure. Actinic keratoses usually affects older adults. Reducing sun exposure can help reduce risk. It most commonly found on your face, lips, ears, back of your hands, forearms, scalp or neck. Superficial basal cell carcinoma is a common slow-growing form of skin cancer with a very small likelihood of spread to other parts of the body. It usually occurs in middle-aged and elderly people, especially those who are fair-skinned and is caused by too much sun exposure.
IMIQUAD 12.5MG helps your body?s own immune system to produce natural substances which help fight your superficial basal cell carcinoma, actinic keratosis or the virus that caused your warts. It is not known if this medicine is safe and effective in children younger than 18 years of age for the treatment of actinic keratosis or superficial basal cell carcinoma. Children usually do not get actinic keratoses or superficial basal cell carcinoma. It is not known if this medicine is safe and effective in children younger than 12 years of age for the treatment of genital and perianal warts. This medicine only for use on the skin (topical).
Always use IMIQUAD 12.5MG exactly as your doctor has told you. Before taking this medicine tell your doctor if you have ever had kidney disease, heart disease, liver problems. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before taking this medicine.

SIDE EFFECTS OF IMIQUAD 12.5MG
SERIOUS
• Local skin reactions such as skin drainage (weeping), severe swelling near the vagina (this may lead to pain or trouble passing urine or cause you not to be able to urinate)
• Flu-like symptoms such as tiredness, fever, nausea, muscle pain and chills
COMMON
• Itching, burning, redness
• Flaking and scaling
• Dryness
• Scabbing and crusting
• Swelling
• Skin that becomes hard or thickened
• Sores, blisters, or ulcers
• Changes in skin color
HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS
Redness:
Cold water helps to bring the redness down. Apply aloe vera and cucumber to ease the redness.
Fever:
Drink plenty of fluids and water. Avoid taking cold bath or showers.
Nausea:
Try taking this medicine with, or just after, a meal or snack and stick to simple meals and do not eat rich or spicy food.
