INTRODUCTION OF MONOTRATE SR 30MG
MONOTRATE SR 30MG TABLET contains Isosorbide Mononitrate which belongs to the group of medicines called Nitrate vasodilators. It is used to treat chronic angina pectoris and it is not recommended for use in sudden or acute angina. Angina pectoris is defined as a sudden, sharp, severe pain originating from the apex of heart and radiating to the left shoulder. The pain is severe and crushing, and it is characterized by feeling of pressure and suffocation, behind breastbone.
MONOTRATE SR 30MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients suffering from lung disease that result in low levels of oxygen in the body (hypoxemia) or cardiac conditions such as low blood volume, low blood pressure, and thickened cardiac muscles (cardiac myopathy) or shock (vascular collapse). Before taking MONOTRATE SR 30MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you have a history of liver or kidney diseases, glaucoma, thyroid problems, or if you suffer from low body temperature.
Your doctor may advise you to follow lifestyle changes such as diet changes (taking foods low in fat, salt or sugar) and do regular mild exercises to achieve better results during treatment with this medicine. It is not recommended for use in children and should be used with caution in elderly patients.
MONOTRATE SR 30MG TABLET should be used with caution in pregnant and breast-feeding women, so consult your doctor before taking it. The common side effects of taking MONOTRATE SR 30MG TABLET are headache, tiredness, dizziness, nausea, decreased blood pressure (hypotension) and rapid heartbeat (palpitations). Consult your doctor if any of the above side effects worsen.

HOW MONOTRATE SR 30MG WORKS?
MONOTRATE SR 30MG TABLET helps to relax the blood vessels and muscles of the heart, which causes the space inside the blood vessels to widen. This helps to ease the flow of blood in the blood vessels of the heart and provides relief from the pain associated with blockage of vessels as seen in angina.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Take MONOTRATE SR 30MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of MONOTRATE SR 30MG TABLET for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

Stop taking MONOTRATE SR 30MG TABLET and consult your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- Severe decreased blood pressure (signs include pale and cold skin or skin having blue tinge, rapid and shallow breathing along with elevated heart rate, weak pulse resulting in dizziness, confusion and/or anxiety)
- Loss of consciousness indicative of circulatory collapse which can result in insufficient supply of oxygen to the vital body organs like brain and kidneys
HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS
Dizziness Or Drowsiness
Lie down until dizziness is gone, then get up slowly. Move slowly and carefully, do not hurry. Get adequate rest. Drink plenty of water and other fluids. Avoid coffee, cigarettes, alcohol, and drugs. Consult your doctor if the symptom gets worse.
Nausea And Vomiting
Take MONOTRATE SR 30MG TABLET with or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily, fried or spicy foods. Do not lie down or sleep immediately after eating. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.
Headache
Drink ample amount of water and avoid skipping meals. Get adequate rest. Try to be relaxed and stress free. Apply pain relieving balm on your forehead if necessary. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.
Tiredness
Drink plenty of fluid and eat balanced diet and frequent meals. Do regular minimal exercise (mild walking) and follow regular sleep schedule. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.

PREGNANCY

BREAST FEEDING
USE WITH CAUTION

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES
USE WITH CAUTION
Do not drive or operate any machines if you feel dizzy after taking MONOTRATE SR 30MG TABLET.
ALCOHOL
CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR
Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking MONOTRATE SR 30MG TABLET because it might increase the risk of dizziness and sometimes fainting also.
KIDNEY
CONTRAINDICATED
MONOTRATE SR 30MG TABLET is not recommended for use if you had or have or suspect of having disorders of the kidney. Consult your doctor before taking MONOTRATE SR 30MG TABLET.
LIVER
CONTRAINDICATED
MONOTRATE SR 30MG TABLET is not recommended for use if you had or have or suspect of having disorders of the liver. Consult your doctor before taking MONOTRATE SR 30MG TABLET.
ALLERGY
CONTRAINDICATED
Do not take MONOTRATE SR 30MG TABLET if you are allergic to isosorbide mononitrate or other nitrates (such as isosorbide dinitrate).
LUNGS
CONTRAINDICATED
MONOTRATE SR 30MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients having lung disease resulting in low levels of oxygen in the body (hypoxaemia). Consult your doctor before taking it.
OTHERS
MONOTRATE SR 30MG TABLET is not recommended for use if you have:
- Elevated pressure inside the eyes (glaucoma)
- Disease related to increased pressure inside the head (brain haemorrhage)
- A head injury
Before taking MONOTRATE SR 30MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you:
- Are diagnosed with an underactive thyroid gland
- Are undernourished
- Have a sustained low body temperature (hypothermia)
- Have eye disorders
INTERACTIONS
A. Drug-Drug Interactions
Before taking MONOTRATE SR 30MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:
- Medicines used to treat male impotency (Ex. sildenafil, tadalafil)
- Medicines to treat high blood pressure such as calcium channel blockers (Ex. verapamil)
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of MONOTRATE SR 30MG TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdosage are pulsating/throbbing headache, reddening of the skin along with an increase in the temperature, blurred vision, rapid drop in blood pressure and fainting.
