WHAT IS TOBRAMYCIN AND DEXAMETHASONE OPHTHALMIC?
Tobramycin and Dexamethasone Ophthalmic is an antibiotic eye drop medication having two active ingredients, Tobramycin which the antibiotic and Dexamethasone which is a steroid. This medication is used for the treatment of bacterial eye infections. Dexamethasone in this medication acts against the swelling caused in the eye due to bacterial infections.
Tobramycin and Dexamethasone Ophthalmic is marketed and sold under various trade names, a couple of which are Toba DM (made by Sun Pharma) and Tobradex.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT TOBRAMYCIN AND DEXAMETHASONE OPHTHALMIC:
Antibiotics are strictly prescription-only medications meaning that they should be taken only with a doctor’s prescription and not by your own will. Do not use Tobramycin and Dexamethasone Ophthalmic (Toba DM, Tobradex) if you are allergic to Tobramycin and Dexamethasone or if you have a viral or fungal infection in the eye. It will not cure a viral or fungal infection
Do not apply Tobramycin and Dexamethasone eye drops while you are wearing contact lenses. Ensure sufficient time after applying the eye drops before wearing lenses again. Ask your doctor about it.
Tobramycin and Dexamethasone is a classified pregnancy B drug meaning that it is not expected to harm an unborn baby if taken during pregnancy. However, you must ask your doctor if this medicine is safe to consume if you are pregnant. It is also unknown whether Tobramycin and Dexamethasone Ophthalmic can pass into breast milk and harm a nursing baby. Do not use this medicine without first consulting your doctor if you are breast feeding a baby

Before using Tobramycin and Dexamethasone Ophthalmic (Toba DM, Tobradex), you must consult your doctor and discuss the benefits and risks of using this medicine. Also, take care of all precautions listed above.
HOW SHOULD I USE TOBRAMYCIN AND DEXAMETHASONE OPHTHALMIC?
You must apply Tobramycin and Dexamethasone eye drops (Toba DM, Tobradex) exactly as directed by your doctor. Use the specified number of eye drops for the specified number of times each day. Remember to not use more or less than the prescribed amount of this medication. This medication will come with a patient leaflet with complete instructions and details about it. Refer to it for more information.
You must employ a high level of hygiene while handling eye drops. Do not touch the tip of the medication bottle or dropper with your hands or to any other surface as this can lead to contamination of the medication and can be harmful for your eyes. Applying eye drops is a very simple task and can be done with or without a little assistance. Always store Tobramycin and Dexamethasone Ophthalmic medication in a cool and dark place, away from heat, light, and moisture.
WHAT IF I MISS A DOSE?
Apply the miss dose as soon as your remember it and if the time to use the next dose is not near. In case if it is time for the next dose, then you can skip the missed dose and continue with the original schedule. Never take extra medicine to compensate for the missed dose.
WHAT IF I OVERDOSE?
An overdose of Tobramycin and Dexamethasone Ophthalmic is unlikely to occur. However, if you suspect that you have overdose on this medication, contact the Doctor immediately.
WHAT SHOULD I AVOID WHILE USING TOBRAMYCIN AND DEXAMETHASONE OPHTHALMIC?
Do not do any activities that require clear vision such as driving, handling heavy equipment, or other hazardous activities immediately after applying Tobramycin and Dexamethasone eye drops. Wait till you are sure that you can do them safely after your vision is restored. Avoid using other eye medication unless or otherwise advised by your doctor
SIDE EFFECTS OF TOBA EYE DROPS 5ML:
• Redness in the eye
• Eyelid itchingEeyelid swelling
• Blurred vision, or sensitivity to light
TOBRAMYCIN AND DEXAMETHASONE OPHTHALMIC DOSING INFORMATION:
Use the exact dose of Tobramycin and Dexamethasone Ophthalmic as prescribed by your doctor. Deviating away from your doctor’s directions can be harmful for you.
INTERACTION WITH OTHER DRUGS:
Do not use other eye medications while using Tobramycin and Dexamethasone Ophthalmic unless your doctor advises you to do so. Apart from this, it is unlikely that other medications can interact with Tobramycin and Dexamethasone Ophthalmic. However there may be some drugs that can interact with this medication. You must tell your doctors if you are using any other medicines or related products. Do not start a new medication without proper medical screening.
