WHAT IS BIOMYCETIN?
BIOMYCETIN contains Chloramphenicol which belongs to a group of medicines called antibiotics
WHAT BIOMYCETIN IS USED FOR?
It is used for variety of infections and wide range of bacterial infections of the outer ear
WARNING & PRECAUTION:
TALK TO DOCTOR
Talk to your Doctor, if you:
Are allergic to any of the other ingredients of this medicine
Have a hole in your ear drum
Ever had a blood disorder or bone marrow disease including anemia (decrease in the number of red blood cells)
Have a family history of dyscrasias
PREGNANCY & BREAST FEEDING
This medicine should not be used during pregnancy and breast-feeding unless considered essential by your doctor
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before using this medicine
DRIVING & USING MACHINES
It is unlikely that after using this medicine your ability to drive and use machines will be affected. However, if you feel unwell you must speak to your doctor before driving or operating any machines
INTERACTIONS:
Tell your doctor if you are taking,
Methotrexate (used for cancer)
Azathioprine (used for the immune system)
Chymotrypsin
DIRECTIONS & FOR USE:
Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
Three to four drops should be used into the affected ear up to two to three times daily for up to one week
Wash your hands well before and after use.
SIDE EFFECTS OF BIOMYCETIN EAR DROPS 5ML:
SERIOUS
• Wheeziness (shortness of breath), fever, swelling of your face, lips or tongue, itching or rash with swelling of skin
Sore throat, bruising or being unable to overcome an infection
• Severe tiredness or easy bruising
COMMON
• Inflammation of the skin (dermatitis)
RARE
• Bone marrow depression
• A reduced production of red blood cells (anemia)
STORAGE:
Keep this medicine out of reach of children
Store at a room temperature of 15-25°C
