WHAT IS ZOCLAR 500MG?
ZOCLAR 500MG contains Clarithromycin, which is in a class of medications called antibiotics
WHAT ZOCLAR 500MG IS USED FOR?
ZOCLAR 500MG is used to treat,
Chest infections such as bronchitis and pneumonia (infection of the lungs)
Sinusitis (infection of the sinuses)
Pharyngitis and tonsillitis (infection of the throat or tonsils)
Skin and soft tissue infections that are mild to moderate in severity
WARNING & PRECAUTION:

Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine, if you:
Are allergic to Clarithromycin or to any of the other ingredients in this medicine
Have severe liver or kidney disease
Have heart problem
Have hypokalaemia (low levels of potassium in blood)
PREGNANCY & BREAST FEEDING
Do not take ZOCLAR 500MG if you are pregnant or breast-feeding without consulting your doctor first. Your doctor will determine if the benefits to you outweigh the risk to the baby
CHILDREN & ADOLESCENTS
ZOCLAR 500MG is not recommended in children and adolescents under 12 years of age
DRIVING & USING MACHINES
ZOCLAR 500MG may cause dizziness as a possible side effect. If you experience this, you should not drive or operate machines
INTERACTIONS:
Tell your doctor if you are taking medicines such as,
Cisapride (to treat stomach disorders)
Terfenadine or astemizole (to treat hay fever or allergy)
Lovastatin, simvastatin, rosuvastatin, atorvastatin (used to lower levels of cholesterol)
Ergotamine or dihydroergotamine (to treat migraines)
Colchicine (usually taken for gout)
Digoxin (to treat heart failure)
Quinidine or disopyramide (to treat abnormal heart rhythm)
Warfarin or acenocoumarol (to thin the blood)
Triazolam, alprazolam or midazolam (sedatives)
Rifabutin, rifampicin, rifapentin (to treat some infections)
Carbamazepine, valproate, phenobarbital or phenytoin (to treat epilepsy)
Methylprednisolone (to treat inflammation)
Sildenafil, tadalafil, vardenafil (to treat erection problems)
Tolterodine (to treat urinary frequency)
Omeprazole (to treat indigestion)
Cyclosporin, tacrolimus, sirolimus (to help prevent rejection after a transplant)
Theophylline (to treat asthma)
Itraconazole or fluconazole (to treat fungal infections)
Nateglinide, pioglitazone, repaglinide, rosiglitazone or insulin (to treat diabetes)
Verapramil (to treat high blood pressure)
DIRECTIONS & FOR USE:
Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water
Do not crush or chew the tablets
The usual dose is 500mg once daily for 7 to 14 days
If you take more ZOCLAR 500MG
If you take more ZOCLAR 500MG, tell your doctor at once or contact the nearest hospital
If you forgot to take ZOCLAR 500MG
Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose. If you forget to take a dose take it as soon as you remember it and then take the next dose at the usual time
If you stop taking ZOCLAR 500MG
Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so
SIDE EFFECTS OF ZOCLAR 500MG:
SERIOUS
• Swelling of the face, lips, throat or tongue, difficulty in breathing or swallowing, skin flushing and/or dizziness or fainting
• Severe or prolonged diarrhoea, which may have blood or mucus in it (pseudomembranous colitis)
• Blistering of the skin, mouth, eyes or genitals
• Yellowing of the skin (jaundice), skin irritation, pale stools, dark urine, tender abdomen or loss of appetite (signs of liver problems)
COMMON
• Increased levels of urea in the blood
• Change in sense of taste, headache
• Abdominal pain, diarrhoea, indigestion, vomiting, bloating, difficulty sleeping, skin rash, increased sweating, presence of protein, blood or white blood cells in the urine, changes in liver or kidney function tests or blood tests, prothrombin time prolongation (increased blood clotting time)
• Leucopenia, anaemia, skin pale and cause weakness and breathlessness, eosinophilia, thrombocythaemia
• Dizziness, tremor (shaking)
• Tinnitus (ringing in the ears) or hearing loss, vertigo (spinning sensation)
• Back, joint or muscle pain
• Gastroenteritis, oral thrush, vaginal bacterial or fungal infection
• Anorexia (loss of appetite)
• Shortness of breath or other problems with breathing including asthma
• Feeling of weakness or discomfort, lethargy, fatigue, thirst, water retention in face (oedema)
• Discolouration of the tongue or teeth
• Inflammation of the mouth or tongue
• Hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar)
• Acne
• Deafness

Keep this medicine out of reach of children
Store at room temperature (15-25°C)
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date
