USES OF Proluton 500mg Injection
Hydroxyprogestrone Caproate is used to reduce risk of preterm birth (delivery in <36 weeks of pregnancy) in women pregnant with one baby (singleton pregnancy) and who have delivered a premature baby in the past.
WORKING OF THE DRUG:
Hydroxyprogesterone caproate is a synthetic hormone. It is used to reduce the risk of delivering a premature child. Premature delivery occurs when a women’s level of progesterone drops below the vital level to maintain the pregnancy, Proluton Depot is used to maintain these levels and prevent premature labor.
HYDROXYPROGESTERONE:
Hydroxyprogesterone is a form of progestin, a synthetic form of a natural female hormone called progesterone.
It is used to lower the risk of premature birth in a woman who has already had 1 premature baby. This medication will not stop premature labor that has already begun.
Proluton depot is not for use in women who have had more than one pregnancy.

BEFORE TAKING THIS DRUG:
Before starting therapy, a detailed general gynaecological and medical examination (including the breasts and a cytological smear of the cervix) should be carried out and pregnancy must be excluded in the appropriate indications. Patients suffering from diabetes should be strictly supervised. In some cases, benign and in even rarer cases, malignant liver tumours leading in isolated cases to life-threatening intra-abdominal haemorrhage have been observed after the use of hormonal substances (drugs) eg, the one contained in Proluton Depot. If severe upper abdominal complaints, liver enlargement or signs of intra-abdominal haemorrhage arise, a liver tumour should be integrated in the differential-diagnostic considerations.
HOW MUCH TO TAKE THE DRUG?
The dose of proluton can vary widely and is required to be taken on a standard prescribed basis. Always follow prescriber?s instructions. The dose intake is prescribed by the health care pharmacist depending upon the severity and demand of the disease condition.
HOW TO TAKE THE DRUG?
