Okacet Syrup 30 ml belongs to a class of drugs called anti-histamine or anti-allergic. It contains cetirizine, primarily used to treat various kinds of allergies. Side Effects of Okacet Syrup 30 ml
Most of the side effects of Okacet Syrup 30 ml do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor. Sleepiness, drowsiness, nasopharyngitis (sore throat), fatigue, and dry mouth in children of 12 years of age and adult has been reported. While fever, sleepiness, drowsiness, cough, and epistaxis (nose bleeding) can occur in children 6 to 12 years of age.

Drug Warnings
Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding. If you become pregnant while taking Okacet Syrup 30 ml, consult your doctor. If you have kidney problems, dose adjustment might be required; the doctor will do it depending upon your disease’s condition. Please inform your doctor if you have a problem passing urine and have epilepsy (fits) before starting Okacet Syrup 30 ml. If you are supposed to undergo skin testing, the doctor might advise you to stop taking Okacet Syrup 30 ml 72 hours before the test as it decreases response to skin prick test. Patients should be cautioned against getting engaged in the work which required too much mental alertness like operating machinery or driving a motor vehicle after intake of Okacet Syrup 30 ml. Concurrent use of Okacet Syrup 30 ml with alcohol or other antidepressants should be avoided as it can reduce your mental alertness. The daily dose in adults and children 12 years of age and older should not take more than 5 mg once daily. Besides this, in children 6-11 years of age, the recommended dose is 2.5 mg once daily. Patients should avoid taking over dosage of Okacet Syrup 30 ml because of the increased risk of sleepiness and drowsiness at higher doses.
Drug Interactions
Drug-Drug Interaction: Okacet Syrup 30 ml have interactions with pain killer (antipyrine), antibiotics (azithromycin, erythromycin), antacid (cimetidine), anti-fungal (ketoconazole), respiratory disease medicine (theophylline), and decongestant (pseudoephedrine), anti-viral or anti HIV drugs (ritonavir).
Drug-Food Interaction: Alcohol and St John’s wort plant (a plant used as anti-depressant) should not be used along with Okacet Syrup 30 ml.
Drug-Disease Interaction: Okacet Syrup 30 ml is contraindicated in kidney disease, epilepsy (fits), urinary bladder problem and alcoholism.
