WHAT IS OXCARB 600 MG?
Oxcarb 600mg is an anticonvulsant or antiepileptic drug. This medication reduces nerve impulses that induce seizures. Oxcarb 600mg is prescribed primarily for the treatment of partial seizures in both adults and children who are at least 2 years and above.
Oxcarb 600mg is sold under various trade names, some of which are Trileptal and Oxcarb (made by Cipla). This medication may also be given for conditions not mentioned in this guide.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT OXCARB 600 MG:
Do not take Oxcarb 600mg anticonvulsant medication (Trileptal, Oxcarb) if you are allergic to it. Before taking this medication, you must inform you’re doctor if you have a liver or kidney disease, or if you are allergic to another anticonvulsant drug Oxcarbazepine.
Oxcarb 600mg can dangerously lower sodium levels in the body resulting in life-threatening electrolyte imbalance. Right away contact or see you’re doctor if you experience headache, thinking or memory problems, overall weakness, appetite loss, feeling unsteady, confusion, hallucinations, fainting, shortness of breath, or increased or more severe seizures.
Oxcarb 600mg usage may lead to suicidal thoughts. This side effect may require you to undergo regular follow-up checks by you’re doctor. You must notify you’re doctor about any new or deteriorating symptoms like mood or behavior changes, depression, anxiety, suicidal or self hurting thoughts, increased agitation, hostility, restlessness, hyperactivity (mental or physical).
Oxcarb 600mg has the potential of reducing the effectiveness of birth control pills. Hence, while taking this medication, an alternative form of contraception is recommended like condoms or diaphragm with spermicide. Oxcarbazepine is a FDA pregnancy category C drug which means it is not known to harm an unborn baby when taken during pregnancy. This drug can pass into breast milk and can harm a nursing baby. You must consult you’re doctor about the safe use of Oxcarbazepine if you are pregnant, planning to become one, or if you are breastfeeding.
Oxcarb 600mg is not meant for children below 2 years of age and should not be given to them under any circumstances.

HOW SHOULD I TAKE OXCARB 600 MG?
Take Oxcarb 600mg anticonvulsant medication (Trileptal, Oxcarb) strictly according to you’re doctor’s direction or according to the instructions on the medication label. Do not alter the dosage unless you’re doctor advises you to do so. You’re doctor may occasionally change the dosage over several weeks or months to ensure proper treatment. Follow you’re doctor’s directions properly
Oxcarb 600mg should be taken twice daily or as directed by you’re doctor. Take this medication with a glass of water. Taking this medicine regularly as prescribed is the key to the maximum benefit due to it. Do not stop taking Oxcarbazepine suddenly even if you feel fine without telling you’re doctor. A combination of several medications is prescribed for seizures. Use all the seizure medications as prescribed. Always store Oxcarbazepine in a cool and dry place, away from any heat and moisture. Ensure that children and pets don’t have access to any medications.
WHAT HAPPENS IS I MISS A DOSE OF OXCARB 600 MG?
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember it. However, you have to skip the missed dose if the time for the next dose is near. Taking two doses near to each can cause too much of the drug concentration in the body and can be dangerous.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I OVERDOSE?
In case of an overdose of Oxcarb 600mg , get emergency medical attention or call the Doctor Immediately.
THINGS AND ACTIVITIES TO AVOID WHILE TAKING OXCARB 600 MG:
Do not get overheated or dehydrated during exercise or in hot weather while taking Oxcarbazepine. Remember to take sufficient fluids but not excessive. Alcohol consumption is not recommended with this medication.
Oxcarb 600mg may impact you’re thinking capability and reflexes which can make activities like driving difficult and intimidating. Be extra careful while indulging in such activities or keep them to minimum and do it when absolutely necessary while taking this medication.

INTERACTION WITH OTHER DRUGS:
Some drugs can interact with Oxcarb 600mg like felodipine, carbamazepine, cyclosporine, Phenobarbital, phenytoin, valproic acid, or verapamil. These are not the only ones that can interact with Oxcarb 600mg anticonvulsant medication. There can be others. Share the list of all present medication which you may be using with you’re doctor. Never start a new medication on you’re own.
